AAO toolAI agent form checker: can an agent fill your form?
AI agents read your page's accessibility tree, not its design. Paste a sign-up, demo or checkout form and see every field and button as an agent sees it, with the fixes that turn guesses into completed tasks. Nothing is uploaded.

Paste your form's HTML
In Chrome, right-click the form → Inspect → right-click the <form> element → Copy → Copy outerHTML. A whole page's source works too. Nothing is uploaded.

How do I make my forms work with AI agents?
Give every field a real label (a <label for> or aria-label, not just a placeholder), add autocomplete attributes such as email, tel and organization, use the correct input types, give every button a text name, mark required fields with the required attribute, and keep CAPTCHAs and honeypot fields from trapping legitimate agents.
The method, in the open.
The HTML you paste is parsed in an inert document in your browser; its scripts never run. For every field and button the checker works out the name an agent would read, in the same order browsers do: aria-labelledby, aria-label, a <label for>, a wrapping label, title, then placeholder.
- Fail: fields or buttons with no readable name, which agents can only guess at.
- Warning: placeholder-only labels, missing autocomplete on personal fields, wrong input types, required-by-asterisk only, radio groups without a question, submit buttons that start disabled, and honeypot fields hidden only with CSS.
- Page-level: CAPTCHA scripts and forms loaded inside iframes.
The score is the share of elements that pass (warnings count half), minus 10 points when a CAPTCHA is present.
What the numbers look like.
Using the sample form. The full-name field passes. The email field has only a placeholder and the wrong input type; the phone field has a label but no type="tel" or autocomplete; "Company *" is required only by its asterisk; the team-size dropdown has no label at all; the honeypot is hidden with CSS but still visible to an agent; and the submit button is an icon with no name. Add labels, autocomplete and a "Book my demo" button text, and the same form passes.
What this is based on
- Lighthouse's Agentic Browsing category treats the accessibility tree as the agent's primary data model and checks names and labels. Chrome for Developers
- In a vendor study of 1,560 agent runs, agents completed 96% of tasks on an accessible site and 31% on an inaccessible version of the same site. AudioEye (accessibility vendor)
- The autocomplete attribute tells browsers and software what kind of information each field expects. MDN
What it does not tell you
- It checks the HTML you paste, not styles applied by CSS files, so a field hidden by a stylesheet class is not detected as hidden.
- Names produced by JavaScript after load are not seen. Copy the form from the live page (Inspect → Copy outerHTML) to include them.
- It doesn't submit the form or test validation, multi-step flows or what happens after submit.
- The AudioEye figures come from a vendor with a commercial interest; treat them as direction, not a benchmark.
Questions people ask.
Why do AI agents care about form labels?
Agents such as ChatGPT agent, Gemini in Chrome and Claude read the accessibility tree to understand a page. A field without a name is just "edit text"; the agent has to guess what goes in it.
Is a placeholder enough as a label?
No. Placeholders disappear while typing and are a fallback name at best. Use a visible label tied to the field.
Should I remove my CAPTCHA?
Not necessarily. Prefer invisible or managed modes and allow verified agents where your bot protection supports it, so real customers using agents aren't blocked.
How do I copy a form's HTML?
In Chrome or Edge, right-click the form, choose Inspect, right-click the <form> element in the Elements panel and choose Copy → Copy outerHTML.
Is the HTML I paste uploaded?
No. It is parsed in your browser and never sent to our servers. Its scripts are not executed.
